Mumbai Indians(MI) faced their third consecutive defeat in the Vivo IPL 2018  as they lost to Delhi Daredevils (DD) by seven wickets in the Match 9 of the tournament at Wankhede Stadium. Mumbai had a power start to their innings after being put to bat. They were 87 for no loss end of Powerplay. Evin Lewis  and Suryakumar Yadav added a 100-run stand to the opening wicket (first for MI). It was the death bowling that did well for DD. The DD bowlers only conceded 36 runs and picked 5 wickets in the last five overs. Mumbai who were once cruising for a total of 220 finished for 194.

Jason Roy,who was playing his first game for DD, replaced Colin Munro. He immediately impressed and won the match for his team with his impressive innings of 91*. MI took three wickets in pursuit of defending the total but allowed partnerships to flourish. However, they took the game till the last ball as Mustafizur Rahman bowled a hat-trick of dot balls when DD needed 1 run and took the equation to 1 from 1. Roy smashed the ball in the air through covers and won it for DD. Delhi registered a win in Mumbai after six years.
