Piyush Chawla competed in his 200th T20 match during clash between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Daredevils (DD) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018. Chawla in 199 T20s has 209 wickets at an average of 24.52, along with 1,126 runs to his name. Chawla also has played 7 T20Is for India, having made his debut in 2010. He has 4 wickets for India. Chawla has also played for IPL franchises like Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and KKR. With KKR he has won two IPL trophies as well.

Apart from KXIP and KKR, Chawla has also played for Somerset and Sussex Counties. Chawla started his First-Class cricket with Uttar Pradesh and now represents Gujarat in Ranji Trophy. He is also the 14th Indian player to play 200 or more T20s. MS Dhoni leads the list with 282, with the likes Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, Gautam Gambhir, Harbhajan Singh, Dinesh Karthik, Yusuf Pathan, Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Shikhar Dhawan ahead of him.
