Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) thrashed Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by 10 wickets with 71 balls to spare at Holkar Stadium, Indore, in Match 48 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018. RCB bowled out KXIP for a mere 88 in 15.1 overs, with Umesh Yadav taking 3 for 22. Three KXIP batsmen were run out, a fact that reflects how irresponsibly they batted today. As we have seen earlier today, KXIP broke several dubious records during their abysmal show. However, more humiliation awaited them, as demonstrated by two more records below.

Biggesh margins of victory in IPL history (in terms of balls left)

87 Mumbai Indians Kolkata Knight Riders Mumbai 2008
76 Kochi Tuskers Kerala Rajasthan Royals Indore 2011
73 Kings XI Punjab Delhi Daredevils Mohali 2017
71 Royal Challengers Bangalore Kings XI Punjab Indore 2018

This was the 4th-biggest victory in IPL history by any side. However, the record still lies with Mumbai Indians (MI), who had bowled out Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for 67 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai in the inaugural IPL season (2008). They had then chased down the target in 5.3 overs.

This was also the joint 12th-lowest match aggregate in IPL history (for a complete 20-over match). The lowest remains 132, which has happened twice: the first, in the MI vs KKR match mentioned above; and the second took place at Mohali in 2017, when KXIP bowled out Delhi Daredevils (DD) for 67 and won by 10 wickets.

The distribution is uncanny. The eleven instances are spread across eleven seasons: 2014 was the only season where no side won by 10 wickets. However, that was compensated in 2017, when it happened twice.
