Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) were in a bit of bother on Saturday night after Rishabh Pant’s blitz. From 23 for 2 in the sixth over, RCB allowed Delhi Daredevils (DD) to get 174. RCB were then reduced to 29 for 2 in the fifth over when AB de Villiers was united with skipper Virat Kohli. The added 63 runs off 39 balls but it was majorly a de Villiers’ show.

AB was on top gear right since he arrived at the crease. There were hardly any slogs. He found the gaps and his exquisite strokes found a way or two to meet the ropes. In an innings consisting 10 fours and 5 sixes, AB belted 90* off just 39 balls to see RCB home in the 18th over.

Kohli, a self-confessed AB fan, praised the South African maverick after the game. Rating his 30 of this match higher than the 92* against Mumbai Indians (MI), Kohli said, “These 30 runs are bigger than the 90 odd in the last game. We won. We still have a few areas to correct, but when you have the brilliant AB in the team, he always makes you smile.”

“We understand our games very well and then he starts going off. And we know if we can get a 60-70 run partnership, we could win the game. Pity I couldn’t stay till the end but Corey [Anderson] and Mandeep Singh did well.”

RCB play the in-form Chennai Super Kings at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday. The clash is touted as Kohli vs MS Dhoni clash.
