Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli has been fined INR 12 lakh for maintaining slow over-rate during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Wednesday night.
The hosts had put on board a challenging 205 for eight but riding on MS Dhoni’s power-packed 34-ball 70, Super Kings overhauled the formidable target with two balls to spare. Dhoni was well supported by Ambati Rayudu, who blasted a 53-ball 82. The duo were involved in a 53-ball 101-run stand for the fifth wicket.
“As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr. Kohli was fined Rs 12 lakh,” an IPL press release said.
Kohli opened the innings for RCB and scored a 15-ball 18. The Kohli-led RCB are languishing at the sixth spot in the IPL Points Table. They have just 2 wins from 6 matches.
