Trent Boult tormented Ben Stokes in the recently concluded England’s tour of New Zealand. The Kiwi left-arm pacer continued to haunt the English all-rounder, now in the northern hemisphere. In the Match 6 of the VIVO IPL 2018, between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Delhi Daredevils (DD) at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, Boult produced a ripper to send back Stokes, reducing hosts to 28 for 2 in the fifth over.

Stokes had just dispatched Chris Morris for a six and was beginning to look dangerous. Boult pitched it on good length, outside off-stump and got the ball to move slightly, just enough to kiss Stokes’ outside edge. Stokes, looking to guide it to leg-side, was squared up and beaten by the pace (142 kph) as his edge flew to Rishabh Pant, who completed a smart catch.

Stokes was bought by RR for a whopping INR 12.5 crore, making him the most expensive buy in the IPL 2018 Auction. The controversial all-rounder is yet to make a difference for Royals. DD elected to bowl and RR had managed 153 for 5 in 17.5 overs before rain stopped play.
