In Match 11 between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) of VIVO IPL 2018, Yuzvendra Chahal surpassed Vinay Kumar and became the leading wicket-taker for RCB. Chahal caused further damage to a depleted RR batting line-up scalping the wickets of  D’Arcy Short and Ben Stokes. Short fell ‘short’ runs for change than the crease. A thick edge got the better of Stokes during the 12th over.

Chahal started his IPL journey with Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2011 IPL. Of all the three seasons he has played for MI, Chahal has played just one game for the franchise. However, he played all the matches of 2011 Champions League T20. In the final against RCB, he scalped 2 wickets for 9 in 3 overs to help MI defend the total of 139 and help them lift the trophy.

In 2014 IPL auctions, Chahal was bought by RCB and made an impact on the first game. He was awarded Man of the Match in the match against Delhi Daredevils (DD) as he scalped a wicket from his 4 overs that included 11 dots.

In 2015 and 2016, Chahal was very much contention for Purple Cap with 23 and 21 wickets respectively. However, Chahal has not had the best of the 2018 IPL season thus far with just 1 wicket under his belt. Chahal was hammered in the last outing against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) conceding 38 runs from his quota of 4 overs.
