West Indies batsman Dwayne Smith was on Tuesday purchased by the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction 2014.
Absolute mayhem broke over Smith, whose bidding started at 1.5 crores. Delhi Daredevils (DD) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) raised the bar to 1.9 crores. KXIP entered the bidding at 2.4 crores, following which it turned out to be a tripartite struggle.
DD opted out at 3.75 crores, but CSK entered the battle. CSK eventually acquired Smith for 4.25 crores. Surprisingly, MI did not use their Right to Match card for Smith.
