Police in Vijaynagar arrested three individuals, two of whom were suspected of online cricket betting. The owner of the house wherein the betting took place was also arrested.
According to a report by Express News Service, items worth Rs 4 lakh, including a Santro car, a bike, an LCD television, laptop, printer, tablet, 12 mobile phones and nine unused SIM cards, and Rs 4,580 were recovered.
The persons involved in the betting went by the names of Purushotham and Venkatesh. The house owner, M Kantharaju, was also arrested for renting the room without an agreement, and allowing the betting.
City Police Commissioner M A Saleem appealed to house owners to be aware of the activities of tenants, and follow the law while leasing or renting out their houses.
