Sri Lanka begin their tour of England with two One-Day Internationals (ODI) against Ireland. Both teams have clashed just once in the 50-over format in the 2007 World Cup. The Lankans are without the big names which gives their youngsters an opportunity to make the chances count.
Ireland have won the toss and elected to field. This match is being played at the same venue where Ireland tied an ODI with Pakistan. For Ireland, it is a chance to show to the world that they can compete against some of the big teams. One thing they can be assured of, the support they will get as they are playing in home conditions in Dublin. Catch Live Scorecard of the match here
While the Lankan players look for an overseas win, it’s a lithmus test for the new coach Marvan Atapattu. Sri lanka have done well in the limited overs format winning the ICC World t20 and the Asia Cup.
