Man of the Match Ishant Sharma credited MS Dhoni for the wickets picked up from the short balls as India scripted a record Test win at Lord’s on Monday. Ishant said that it was Dhoni who allowed him to go for attack with the short balls.

On his bowling Ishant said, “I keep believing myself. All the wickets are there for the captain. It is he who told that you are a tall bowler, bowl short and get them. The partnership was going on and we needed to keep patience. But once a wicket falls, you need to put more pressure,” said Ishant after receiving Man of the Match.

This is India’s first victory since 2011 when they beat West Indies at Jamaica. This is Ishant Sharma’s best bowling figures in an innings (7/74). This is also the first instance when two Indian bowlers have taken a five-for at Lord’s.

Ishant bowled a memorable spell post lunch on Day Five when he bounced England out. Ishant bagged five wickets with short balls (Moeen Ali, Matt Prior, Ben Stokes, Joe Root and Stuart Broad).
