India’s tour to Zimbabwe which ended yesterday finished on a successful note for the young second-string Indian side under MS Dhoni. The team won the 3-match ODI series convincingly by 3-0 and then wrapped up the tour with a win in the 2-1 T20 series which was much more competitive than the ODIs. Although, there were a number of players for whom the tour had its own importance. Yorker specialist Jasprit Bumrah was one of them. Bumrah who took 5 wickets in the T20 series has because of his impressive performances achieved a career-best rank in the ICC bowler rankings for the format. Bumrah is now 2nd on the list. Bumrah is next to West Indies spinner Samuel Badree who occupies the No.1 spot. Bumrah has although jumped 6 places to reach the 2nd spot but is still 46 points behind Badree. Imran Tahir was the 3rd on the list for T20 bowlers. He was followed by Sunil Narine. Among other Indian bowlers, Ravindra Jadeja slipped to the 19th spot. Veteran Indian left-arm seamer Ashish Nehra was 20th on the list.
Meanwhile, among the Batsmen, Bumrah’s team-mate Virat Kohli occupied the No.1 spot in the T20 Rankings. Australian opener Aaron Finch was second in the list. Martin Guptill, Joe Root and Faf Du Plessis were 3rd, 4th and 5th respectively in the rankings.
In the team rankings, India missed the chance to occupy the first spot despite beating Zimbabwe by 2-1 in the 3-match T20 series.
