Shahid Afridi has been in news lately due to his controversial tweet a day after security forces in Kashmir killed 12 terrorists. He requested the United Nations to look into the atrocities on the people in Kashmir, here he referred to the state as ‘Indian Occupied Kashmir’. He said: “Appalling and worrisome situation ongoing in the Indian Occupied Kashmir.”

Afridi was criticised by many including Gautam Gambhir, Kapil Dev and Virat Kohli. According to ANI‘s tweet Sachin Tendulkar lashed out on Afridi calling him an ‘outsider’. His tweet quoted ‘We have got capable people to manage & run our country. No outsider needs to know or tell us what we need to do.’

Afridi has always maintained that sports should be a medium to end tensions between the two neighbouring countries than as another tool of politics. He however went too far with this tweet. Congress leader Rajeev Shukla on Wednesday said his allegations were unfounded as the former Pakistan cricket lacked the understanding of the situation in Kashmir.
