England‘s former batsman, Kevin Pietersen through his Twitter handle congratulated Joe Root, Ian Bell and Matt Prior for their fine performances against Sri Lanka on the first day’s play of the first Test played at Lord’s. It has to be said though, a few months back when Pietersen was shown the exit door by the board, Prior had said that the team’s dressing room would be a better place without the controversial batsman.

Bell looked in good touch and went onto score a half-century, though he would have liked to convert it into a hundred. On the other hand, Prior made a half-century and remained not out on 76. He did survive a close lbw shout.
