In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014 game No 32 played between Delhi Daredevils and Sunrisers Hyderabad, Hyderabad won the toss and elected to bowl in slightly overcast conditions. Quinton de Kock and his new partner at top of the order and skipper of Delhi, Kevin Pietersen started cautiously. Both batsmen survived run out chances. de Kock was the first one to get out. He tried to play a drive on the up which is his trademark shot but could only spoon a catch to KL Rahul at extra cover.
Pietersen struggled for timing. He finally opened up his shoulders by playing a fine shot through the off-side. Pietersen then used his feet to loft Karn Sharma for a fine six. He also used the crease to smash another boundary through the third man region. He followed it up thwacking Henriques all over the park. His partner, Mayank Agarwal played a nice forceful shot through the off-side for a boundary. Hyderabad bowlers initially, Dale Steyn and Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled with good lines and lengths to keep the batsmen on a tight leash. Delhi need to get a good score on the board as the track looks good for batting.
