George Bailey and Rishi Dhawan steadied the ship for Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in their match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 2014 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 7. Yuvraj, bowling the 17th over of the innings, conceded just five off it.
Mitchell Starc came on to bowl his final over, and immediately induced a bottom edge from Dhawan’s bat. Luckily for RCB, it couldn’t go past Parthiv Patel. Starc followed up with some tight bowling, finally conceding only four runs off the over. With that, Starc finished his spell with figures of 4-0-15-0.
Yuvraj Singh was bowling the 15th over of the innings, and conceded a boundary down third man. KXIP were able to take eight runs from the over to bring the remaining runs down to 24 required off the last five overs.
Earlier, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) had reached a score of 93 for five after 15 overs against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014. Punjab were chasing a low target of 125 runs. George Bailey was batting on two and Rishi Dhawan on four. Cheteshwar Pujara, Wriddhiman Saha, Glenn Maxwell, David Miller and Virender Sehwag were the batsmen to have been dismissed.
After taking those magnificent catches, Starc began the 10th over with two wides. Yuzvendra Chahal dragged one slightly short and Miller hammered it through cover for a four. Morkel bowled three short deliveries to Miller and all of them were pulled for fours on the leg side. The first went towards deep mid-wicket and the second towards deep square-leg. The third went towards fine-leg. That relieved a bit of pressure for Punjab.
But Miller was soon dismissed by Chahal in the 13th over. The leg-spinner angled one across and Miller poked at it and edged the ball to Parthiv. Miller was out for 26 off 20 deliveries. On the last ball of the over, Chahal dismissed Sehwag caught behind for 32 off 26 deliveries. Replays showed that Sehwag had not edged the ball. New batsman Rishi Dhawan cut a back of a length delivery from Dinda for a four towards cover-point.
