Mumbai Indians have finally something to smile in Indians Premier League (IPL) 2016. They won their last match played against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by 25 runs. After being invited to bat first, MI lost Rohit Sharma on the second ball of the game for a duck. Ambati Rayudu and Parthiv Patel then made a 136-run stand for the second wicket. Rayudu batted at a very brisk pace scoring 65 runs off 37 balls hitting four boundaries and as many sixes. Rayudu came down the wicket quite a few times in his innings. Parthiv Patel gave Rayudu a helping hand, and went on to go past his knock of 65. Parthiv scored 81 from 58 deliveries hitting 10 fours and two sixes. Mumbai posted 189 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs. Mohit Sharma was the most successful bowler for KXIP. He took a three-wicket haul giving 38 runs in his quota of four overs. Punjab lost both their openers Murali Vijay and Manan Vohra early on in their innings. Their middle order batsmen tried to steady the innings. Shaun Marsh and Glenn Maxwell made an 89-run third wicket stand. After the fall of Marsh for 45, Maxwell was also dismissed soon after. Marsh was caught in the deep as he tried to loft the ball on the leg side, a shot which reminded everyone of Sanath Jayasuriya. However, he did not get the elevation he wanted. Trying to up the scoring rate, Maxwell had attempted a slog off Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling. The ball took the inside edge of his bat and went on to hit the stumps. David Miller scored an unbeaten 30 but KXIP could only manage 164 for 7. Bumrah took three wicket and he and was also the most economical giving only 26 runs in his four overs.
