Hosts and powerhouse Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsmen in the form of KL Rahul and Virat Kohli scored twin half-centuries, as RCB finished on a challenging total of 185 for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs, against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), in Match 30 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday. Earlier, KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir won the toss and elected to field first, as he made three changes in the side, following the loss to Delhi Daredevils (DD) by bringing in Chris Lynn, Morne Morkel and Manish Pandey, for Brad Hogg, Shkiab Al Hasan and Rajgopal Satish. RCB skipper Virat Kohli, on the other hand, made massive four changes as he brought in Chris Gayle, Stuart Binny, Srinath Aravind and Yuzvendra Chahal, for Kane Richrdson, Kedar Jadhav, Harshal Patel and Pervez Rasool. RCB openers, in the form of Gayle and KL Rahul, were off to a shaky start, as with just eight runs on the board, GAyle fell for mere seven to Morne Morkel, after being caught by Robin Uthappa in the second over. However, it was followed by a massive 84-run stand between Rahul and Kohli, as Rahul also brought up his half-century in 29 deliveries, including six boundaries, and a couple of sixes, along with a strike rate of 163. Nevertheless, he fell for 52 to Piyush Chawla, after being caught by Yusuf Pathan, in the 12th over. At the score of 109, it was their explosive batsman AB de Villiers, who fell for mere four to Chawla again, after he was trapped leg-before. Meanwhile, skipper Kohli brought up his half-century off 42 deliveries, including four boundaries, along with a strike rate of 118, before he fell for 52 to Morkel, after being caught by Andre Russell, after a 20-run stand with Shane Watson. At the score of 167, it was Sachin Baby, who fell for mere 16 to Andre Russell, as he along with Watson proved costly, with a 38-run stand, and also destroyed Umesh Yadav for 23 runs in the 18th over.
It was followed by a 17-runs stand between Watson and Stuart Binny, as they were in a mood to punish Umesh once again in the final over, only in the fifth delivery, when Binny fell for mere 16 to him, after being caught by Manish Pandey, while the next ball saw a run out in the form of Watson for 33, as RCB finished on a competitive total of 185.
