All-rounder Lewis Gregory  is all set to take up his new role as captain for the Somerset in NatWest T20 Blast. In the last season Gregory captained for a while in the absence of Jim Allenby. He led the side in the quarter finals against Nottinghamshire.

Gregory who has been assigned the duty of captaincy says it is a great honour to captain the side and believes the side can beat anyone.

‘An absolute honour’

“To captain Somerset in the T20 Blast this year will be an absolute honour. To have my name on the captain’s board alongside some of the great names in the club’s history is a huge privilege,” Gregory said.

“I had a little taste of captaincy last year and I’m delighted that I’ll get the chance to lead such a talented squad and try to take our T20 game forward. It’s an exciting time for the club and we have the ability in this squad to beat the best and challenge for silverware.”

Gregory’s performance had grabbed eyeballs of the selectors two years ago when he was selected in the squad  for the one-off ODI against Ireland in Dublin. It was also the last time he was included in a full side squad.
