Mumbai: Dec 3, 2013
11:40 AM: This year it would be a television show and Dave Richardson explains that it is because of the international calendar.
Why no Virat Kohli in ODI team? Richardson says, “Without having the stats, he would be one player who could consider himself unlucky. He has been recognized one of the best one-day players in the world. With these awards, it is more a case of who gets left out or in. Tremendous competition for places, he might be unlucky. His performances in recent times have been phenomenal.”
“What has ODI playing conditions, we have had numerous changes in recent times. Want to keep playing conditions stable and consistent. Conditions vary across the world, on a good pitch int he sub-continent, bowlers find it difficult. But overall, we see that the total number of runs has remained constant. We introduced the new regulations to make to more attacking. Wickets fall and so do runs get scored. Overall, they have been a success, but the cricket committee would look at it again,” Richardson says.
“For ICC events, we give directions to the hosts for the preparation for the pitch. Will be the same for the next as it was for the 2011 tournament in Australia. We want pitches which would have good bounce, but not too much lateral movement,” Richardson says about the playing conditions for next World Cup.
