The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) made a tremendous comeback from their defeat at the hands of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the first game of the group stage of the ongoing Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20) by destroying the opposition bowlers in the eighth game of the group stage against the Dolphins. The likes of Suresh Raina (90), Brendon McCullum (49), Ravindra Jadeja (40) and Faf du Plessis (30) made their immense contributions to their team, helping CSK post a mammoth total of 242 for the loss of six wickets against Dolphins that bolstered their chances of winning their first match of the tournament.
After a early blow in which Dwayne Smith departed for a score of seven runs, McCullum and Raina added quick runs to take their side to a total of 100 runs in less than nine overs. The middle overs saw the Dolphins batsmen looking clueless as they were smashed all over the park. As Ravichandran Ashwin took a single off the last delivery of the match, CSK equalled the record of the highest total in the history of the CLT20, which was Otago Volts’ score of 242 for four against Perth Scorchers in the 2013 edition.
