Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s coverage of second day’s play of ICC Intercontinental Cup between Afghanistan and Ireland at Greater NOIDA. I am Paulami Chakraborty, and I will be bringing you live updates of the match. Afghanistan resume Day Two of the contest comfortably placed at 357 for 6, with skipper Asghar Stanikzai leading from the front with an unbeaten 110. Mohammad Shahzad and Nasir Jamal scored 85 and 73 respectively. Among the Irish bowlers, George Dockrell, Andy McBrine and John Anderson were the only wicket-takers. Ireland will have to put up a good effort on Day Two, if they are to dismiss Afghanistan within 400 and go to the break with some momentum. Afghanistan vs Ireland, Intercontinental Cup Day 2 Preview
Afghanistan and Ireland played out a T20 International (T20I) and a One-Day International (ODI) series. While Afghanistan won the three-match T20I series 3-0, Ireland put up a much better fight in the ODI series, but eventually lost the series 3-2. However, the four-day match is a different ball game altogether. Ireland is right on top of the Intercontinental Cup table, with 80 points from four games, winning all their matches so far. Afghanistan, on the other hand, are at second place with 61 points from four games, which includes three wins and a draw.
