Hello and Welcome to CricketCountry's live blog session of the third and final Twenty20 International (T20I) between hosts Australia and visitors Sri Lanka, at Adelaide.
Good Evening/Afternoon, සුභ සන්ධ්යාවක්! Hello and Welcome to CricketCountry’s live blog session of the third and final Twenty20 International (T20I) between hosts Australia and visitors Sri Lanka, at the Adelaide Oval on Wednesday. I am Vishal Mehra, and I will be bringing to you all the live updates from this tie. Australia have had a glorious run in this three-match series so far, having won the opening two contests convincingly, and therefore winning the series. With the third match being a dead rubber, the Sri Lankans would aim to win this tie, and register a clean sweep over the struggling Aussies, while the hosts have nothing, but to play for pride, as they too would be aiming to win this tie, and finish the series on a high, rather than suffering the embarrassment of a whitewash in front of their home fans. FULL CRICKET SCORECARD: Australia vs Sri Lanka, 3rd T20I at Adelaide
The makeshift Australian side has shown wear and tear game-by-game, with the less experienced players coming short in performances. The likes of Ben Dunk, Aston Turner, James Faulkner and Tim Paine have failed to live up to their Big Bash League hype. Australia’s bowling too hasn’t been the most impressive with Andrew Tye, Pat Cummins, Billy Stanlake and Turner leaking runs at crucial moments. Niroshan Dickwella suspended by ICC for 2 limited-over matches
Much of the onus will lie on Upul Tharanga, Dilshan Munaweera and Chamara Kapugedera to provide ample support in the middle order. Sri Lanka, bowling meanwhile, has been spot-on so far with Lasith Malinga, Nuwan Kulaserkara, Vikum Sanjaya firing all guns. The pitch at Adelaide is expected to a batsmen’s paradise, which accounts for only one thing — runs and more runs for fans to rejoice.
