WWC-2017

Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live updates of match No. 4 between Australia and West Indies, of ICC Women’s World Cup 2017. I am Vishal Mehra, and I will provide live scorecard and intriguing posts from the social media. The tournament has been so good so far. India, the ever-improving team, beat England, the favourites. South Africa, the dark horses, beat Pakistan, the unpredictable. New Zealand, however, had an easy outing against Sri Lanka. In all, the proceedings have been intriguing. That said, Australia are indeed firm favourites and they indeed have to be aware of West Indies, the WWT20 champions.

Australia have tasted success most times:  they emerged triumphant in 1978, 1982, 1988, 1997, 2005 and 2013, with a winning percentage of 87 (64 wins of 76 games).

Australia and West Indies last locked horns in the final off 2016 World T20. West Indies were so spectacular they chased down a colossal 162 with one ball to spare. However, this is a different format with different mechanism, and Australia are the defending champions of the 50-over extravaganza. West Indies are well aware of that. If West Indies are to emulate what India did to England, they will have to fire on all cylinders and dent Australia’s spirit.
