Bangladesh 145/3 , Shakib Al Hasan 0*, Mominul Haque 60* : OUT! Finally New Zealand have a wicket. Neil Wagner has been persistent with his line and length. Mahmudullah sees the ball a bit away from his body and flashes had to give a diving BJ Watling a super catch. Shakib Al Hasan is out in the middle .

Short of ideas Wagner and Williamson opted for the bounce’em approach and dished out short-ball after short-ball. Both Mahmudullah and Mominul played the short stuff with ease by either ducking or fending it off the body. Both players did try the hook and pull but were able to keep it down.

Bangladesh 132/2 , Mahmudullah 22*, Mominul Haque 52* : This has been an excellent knock by Mominul Haque, his love affair with New Zealand continues. This is Mominul Haque’s 11th Test half century. Onus on Neil Wagner to pick up quick lights with lights fading all around. Colin de Grandhomme is into the attack which is surprising.

Good Morning, সুপ্রভাত, Kia Ora! Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live cricket blog for the first Test between New Zealand and Bangladesh at the host’s capital city of Wellington. I am Vishal Mehra and I will bring you the live cricket scores and updates from this Test. This has been a torrid tour for the visitors as they have been whitewashed in both ODI and the T20I series. All the six matches so far have gone the hosts’ way. In this decade, Bangladesh have enjoyed reasonable success against the Kiwis in the limited-overs format but the scenario completely changed when the sides squared up in New Zealand.

Bangladesh are yet to win a game against New Zealand at the latter’s backyard. Bangladesh first played in New Zealand in the 2001-02 season and since then have appeared in 5 Tests, losing all of them. At Basin Reserve, both their previous Tests have resulted in innings defeat. The good news is the return of Mushfiqur Rahim as Bangladesh’s skipper. His return from injury will be a boost for the struggling side; however, they will be without the services of their ace pacer Mustafizur Rahman, whom selectors have rested for this encounter citing not to overburden the talented prodigy.

Taskin Ahmed is set for his Test debut and should be the leader of the pace pack. Rubel Hossain is also set to return. The track is expected to bore a green look and it will assist Bangladeshi pacers but New Zealand who have the likes of Trent Boult, Tim Southee, Colin de Grandhomme and Neil Wagner, will start favourites.

Kane Williamson’s men have an impressive record at home and these are conditions where they thrive. In the windy Wellington conditions and with the red ball in morning, Bangladesh have a task in hand.
