Sri Lanka are in a strong position after cleaning up Bangladesh for 232 and ending the first day’s play with 60 for no loss in the first Test at Mirpur. For Bangladesh, Mushfiqur Rahim top scored with 61. Shakib Al Hasan made 55. Sri Lanka’s top wicket-taker turned out to be Shaminda Eranga.


Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bowl first at the Shere Bangla National Stadium. Mushfiqur leads the Bangladesh side. Batsman Shamsur Rehman made his Test debut for Bangladesh. Angelo Mathews captained Sri Lanka. All-rounder Dilruwan Perera played in place of Ajantha Mendis.
