Bangladesh win by 4 wickets! This is their first ever Test victory against Sri Lanka and it came in their 100th Test. They thus become the fourth country to win their 100th Test. Not the best of birthdays for Rangana Herath though.

  • 3:34 PM IST

Dropped! Mosaddek is dropped by birthday boy Rangana Herath. The return catch bounced off Herath’s grip, he juggled it once again before falling down on the ground, missing it totally. Earlier, Mushfiqur was given out by S Ravi which he appealed to. The decision of lbw was reversed as the ball missed off-stump.

  • 3:25 PM IST

BOWLED HIM! More drama, as there is a confusion if the ball came off the wicketkeeper’s pad to dislodge the bail. Replay shows Shakib is bowled, the ball takes the inside edge and hits the stump.

  • 3:08 PM IST

Tea at Colombo: Bangladesh need 35 runs which seems to be a cakewalk for the two experienced players at the crease. Shakib and Mushfiqur need to keep their calm and take the side to the historic victory now. Sri Lanka will be eager to take wickets.

  • 2:28 PM IST

Sabbir departs! Bangladesh lose yet another wicket, Sabbir departs for 41. Problem for Bangladesh now is that they have lost their set batsmen. However, both Shakib and Mushfqur are experienced players and in-form.

  • 2:21 PM IST

OUT! Big wicket this, and Chandika Htahurusinghe is not happy at all. This shot was not at all needed after the class innings. Tries to play a big shot. Comes down the ground to hit it from leg straight to Dinesh Chandimal’s hand who takes it running backwards.

  • 2:02 PM IST

Fifty for Tamim! A brilliant knock by the Bangladesh opener as he takes his team closer to the historic victory with each run he scores. Sabbir at the other end also played a crucial role. The two have put up a 100-run partnership. Tamim now has most runs as a Bangladeshi in the fourth innings, surpasses Shakib Al Hasan.

Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live updates for Day Five of the second Test between Sri Lanka versus Bangladesh at the P Sara Oval, Colombo. I, Paulami Chakraborty, will provide all the live cricket scores and happenings of this decider. Well, to be honest, Bangladesh are on the verge of snatching a defeat from the jaws of victory. That, for that matter, has been their story. When they finally see light at the end of a tunnel, they make things look even darker. However, Bangladesh taking everyone aback is not new to us. That said, they may as well win this Test and level the series. Full Cricket Scorecard: Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka, 2nd Test at Colombo

Sri Lanka board treated Bangladesh for completing 100 Tests. Does not that sound as a nice gesture to congratulate their Asian neighbour for attaining the milestone? However, if they lose the match, we may as well see Bangladesh sponsoring a treat in return. Jokes apart. We, without a shadow of doubt, are in for a show. Fasten the seatbelts. In Ravi Shastri’s words (of wisdom): “It promises to be a crackerjack of a contest.”

Sri Lanka lead by 139 runs, with 2 wickets in hand. At the crease are Dilruwan Perera and Suranga Lakmal. For them to post a safe total, these two will have to bat out of their skin so No. 10 Lakshan Sandakan does not have to face the heat. Bangladesh, on the other hand, will look to take the last 2 wickets and chase down a rather paltry total if they are to pull off the unlikely.

Sri Lanka were 176 for 3 at one stage. It seemed Bangladesh would dismantle the hosts within 200. But Bangladesh, being the Bangladesh they are reputed for, got complacent and wasted the opportunity. In addition, they dropped a few catches and then missed a run-out chance. All these episodes may add to their numerous comedy of errors. They will regret (or feel remorse, given the contest) if they lose this match.

Whether Bangladesh emerge triumphant or stay true to their reputation, is a question only time will tell.
