India and England are ready to battle it out on the second day of the third Test of the ongoing series between India and England at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton. The hosts are perched comfortable at the top with a score of 247 for the loss of two wickets on day one.

England were in command through out the day, plundering the Indian bowlers all over the ground. While Gary Ballance was the star of the day with an unbeaten knock of 104, skipper Alastair Cook narrowly missed out on a much -needed century as he was dismissed on 95. The duo added 158 runs for the second wicket before Cook was dismissed after being caught by MS Dhoni off the bowling of Ravindra Jadeja.

It was a bad day on the field for the visitors, who displayed some below-average fielding skills. Cook, who missed out on his 26th Test century by a narrow margin, was dropped on 15 by Jadeja, which denied debutante Pankaj Singh his maiden Test wicket.

Brief Scores:

England 247 for 2 (Alastair Cook 95, Gary Ballance 104*; Ravindra Jadeja 1 for 34) vs India
