England are in a strong position against Sri Lanka in the first Test that is being played at Lord’s. They ended the day’s play at 344 for 5. Joe Root was the one who amassed a century for England. He was well supported by Matt Prior and Moeen Ali, the debutant However, Moeen wasn’t able to score a fifty, as he got out to the bowling of Rangana Herath. England will look to build on that score on the second day. Catch Live Scorecard of the England vs Sri Lanka 1st Test here

On the other hand, Sri Lanka will look for early breakthroughs. Actually with the likes of Nuwan Pradeep and Shaminda Eranga bowling well they held the upper-hand during the early part of the first day’s play, before Root seized control of the proceedings. Sri Lanka bowled well in patches but they had England five down, they weren’t able to bowl out the opposition. Catch the live blog here

There was a tinge of grass on the track. But  the track played true for most part of the match. The second day is usually the best day for batting at Lord’s. So, Root and company would  look to take the game away from Sri Lanka’s grasp.
