England bowled out Sri Lanka for a score of 257 runs on the board on the first day of the second Test played at Headingley. England’s Stuart Broad achieved a hat-trick on the first day. He achieved the feat for the second time in his career. The first day also saw a slew of catches being dropped by English fielders. Actually, nobody realised the achievement. Even Broad who became the fourth bowler in history to take two hat-tricks in Test cricket, and even he didn’t realise it. Liam Plunkett took five and Sangakkara for Sri Lanka made a fifty. England’s Sam Robson and Alastair Cook then were able to negotiate the rest of the overs and put England in a strong position.
