Melbourne: Dec 28, 2011

Umesh Yadav claimed three wickets and Ishant Sharma one as India fought back in the post-lunch session being shot out for 282. Australia, who obtained 51-run first innings lead, were for 81 four at tea with an overall lead of 132 runs on the third day at MCG.

Australia, who were left reeling at 27 for four, recovered to for four with an unbeaten 54–run stand between senior batsmen Ricky Ponting and Michael Hussey.

Umesh struck in the seventh over of Australia’s second innings, dismissing David Warner for five. The right-arm India pacer jolted Australia once again when he trapped Ed Cowan in front of the wickets for eight.

Umesh’s good run continued as he bagged the key wicket of Shaun Marsh, who fell for three off 11 balls.

Australia captain Michael Clarke and former skipper Ricky Ponting failed to stitch a partnership as Ishant Sharma bowled Clarke for one.

Brief Scores: Australia 333 (Ed Cowan 68, Ricky Ponting 62, Peter Siddle 41; Zaheer Khan 4 for 77, R Ashwin 3 for 81) & 81 for 4 (Ricky Ponting 33*, Michael Hussey 29*; Umesh Yadav 3 for 24) lead India 282 (Sachin Tendulkar 73, Rahul Dravid 68, Virender Sehwag 67; Ben Hilfenhaus 5 for 75, Peter Siddle 3 for 63) by 132 runs.
