After staging a fightback in the second session and taking honours on Day One, New Zealand will be eyeing a big first innings score against India when they resume from 329 for four on Day two of the first Test at Auckland.
Brendon McCullum is unbeaten on 143 along with Corey Anderson on 42. New Zealand’s score on the first day was set up by a 221-run stand between McCullum and Kane Williamson (113). The Kiwis were down three for 30 when the two came together. They saw the first session cautiously before scoring at will in the post lunch session. New Zealand scored 150 in the extended third session.
In the end, a dropped catch made all the difference for India. They could have minimised the damage done by Williamson. 150 runs were scored in the extended last session.
New Zealand 329 for 4 (Kane Williamson 113, Brendon McCullum 143*; Ishant Sharma 2 for 62, Zaheer Khan 2 for 98) vs India.
