Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of the India tour of Sri Lanka 2017. India have pocketed 2 Tests to clinch the series but only a whitewash will appease Virat Kohli’s men, who are the No.1 Test side according to the ICC Test Rankings. We at CricketCountry will be providing you live updates from the 3rd and the final Test, which is being hosted at the Pallekele International Stadium in the suburbs of Kandy. India ended Day One at 329 for 6. They were 134 for no loss at lunch and the pair of Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay had put up 188 on the board as the opening stand. Dhawan slammed his sixth Test ton (115), while Rahul who has become an epitome of consistency slammed his eighth consecutive 50-plus score in Tests but failed to reach the elusive three-figure mark by 15 runs. There on, it was more of a show dominated by Sri Lankan spinners.

Domestic stalwart Malinda Pushpakumara send back Dhawan, Rahul and cleaned-up Ajinkya Rahane, while mystery Chinaman bowler Lakshan Sandakan broke India’s backbone of batting by claiming the scalps of Cheteshwar Pujara (8) and Virat Kohli (42). The last wicket of the day  was picked with the second new-ball by pacer Vishwa Fernando, who sent back a well-set Ravichandran Ashwin.

With Wriddhiman Saha and Hardik Pandya at the crease, India should eye at least 400 on a surface that is slow, sluggish and does not have enough bounce, which is making it difficult for the batsmen to judge right lengths.
