Rohit Sharma gets Rs. 15 crores as the winning captain of Mumbai Indians. He says, “It is always good at Eden Gardens. Have a lot of memories. Would love to comeback and perform. We played like champion, we bounced back well. Mumbai have shown the character. It was important to do that. We have done that in the past. We came from nowhere, all we wanted to do was to focus on our processes and not see what is happening around us. Credit to all boys standing there. We picked ourselves really well.”

MS Dhoni’s CSK get Rs. 10 crores for finishing as the runners-up. He says, “I think they got too many on the board. The second over we gave away the momentum. It was a tough wicket. We were not able to get back into the game. It was a good wicket, bit of uneven bounce. The game was on with 180-185 runs to chase. This was more of a team effort, there were few cricketers who did not turn up really well as they should have. Match winning performances did not come, we also missed Brendon McCullum. Part and parcel of the game, I think the performance was good and we need to go back to the drawing board.”

Andre Russell wins the Most Valuable Player of the Season award.

Purple Cap Award goes to Dwayne Bravo. “Congratulations to Rohit and Mumbai. My personal achievement does not really fare much. Team backed my skills and abilities and the captain also. It is good to have that. I am still able to perform at the highest level,” he says.

David Warner, winner of the Orange Cap, is also honoured for his effort.

Andre Russell wins a special award for the fastest 50 in IPL 2015 — off 19 balls. He had better strike rate than Harbhajan Singh.

Chennai Super Kings win the Fairplay Award in IPL 2015.

Shreyas Iyer wins the Emerging Player of the Year Award. “Got a lot to learn from senior players. Enjoyed every moment. It is really good feeling to see seniors look upon me. Shared a lot of experiences. Did not change much, played basic and stick to my abilities.”

Maximum Sixes Award to Chris Gayle.

Catch of the Season award to Dwayne Bravo to dismiss Shane Watson of Rajasthan Royals.

Pitch and Ground Award also to PCA, Hyderabad and Cricket Club of India.

Karnataka State Cricket Association and Mumbai Cricket Association get special award for hosting more than five matches.

Rohit Sharma is the Man of the Match of IPL 2015 final.

So, Mumbai Indians win their second IPL title and second win as a captain this is for Rohit Sharma. No way Chennai could ever threaten Mumbai after they piled up 200 plus. Truly the deserving champions of the IPL 2015 as it has been a one-way traffic as far as Mumbai Indians are concerned.

Here is Shiamak Unwalla’s final report of the IPL 2015, a match where Mumbai Indians dominated the Chennai Super Kings completely. Anyways, it’s time for action now.

I don’t know why, but for some reason they had teams (mixed up with foreign players) stand up for the Indian national anthem. Must say, it was badly composed and then people in Eden Gardens started making noise even before it ended, because the giant screen showed the legendary Sachin Tendulkar.

Finally, after 59 matches and with six teams eliminated, we will have IPL champion for the year 2015 tonight. It’s been a good, joyful ride, with perhaps a little bit of over-kill for the fans around the world.

Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live blog of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2015 final between the Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday night. This is Devarchit Varma, and I will be bringing you the over-by-over live cricket scores and updates of the match. PREVIEW: Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings IPL 2015 Final at Kolkata

Both CSK and MI have been on a roll in this IPL. While CSK finished at the top of the IPL 2015 Points Table, the Mumbai Indians recovered from atrocious start (five losses out of first six matches) to become the first team to barge into the final of the tournament, demolishing all threats en route to the final of the tournament. Chennai Super Kings’ strength lies in playing as a unit and pulling off wins from the most improbable situations. They have a good chunk of match-winners in their ranks and the present form makes them favourites to win the clash tonight. Michael Hussey has taken the mantle of providing good starts with tremendous ease from Brendon McCullum, and the bowling duo of Ashish Nehra and Dwayne Smith is looking very lethal as of now.
