Mumbai is anyway through to the quarte-final of the ongoing edition of Ranji Trophy, it will be interesting to see if they declare soon to challenge for another victory.

Live Cricket Score: Gujarat 386/7 | Overs 131 | BATSMEN: Bhargav Merai 166(330), Ramesh Powar 14(35) | Bhargav Merai is playing a wonderful innings. Gujarat are on their way to losing the match but Merai is not giving in. He has an able ally in Ramesh Powar, who could be playing his final First-Class match. Ironically, if it is he will have played his last game against the team for whom he played the most.

The top scorer for Gujarat has been Bhargav Merai who is batting at 150 and his wicket will be crucial for Mumbai on the fourth morning. With his exception, Akshar Patel did really well lower down the order scoring a resilient 88. But besides these, there were no noteworthy knocks and that hurt Gujarat’s cause to try and take the first innings lead.

Mumbai’s seamer Shardul Thakur should be given credit for persisting hard on a surface that did not offer much. He took 4 wickets in 30 overs while conceding 75 runs. Badre Alam took a couple of wickets while Balwinder Sandhu took one wicket. As it stands now, the match is definitely heading for a tame draw but it will be a good confidence booster for Mumbai ahead of the playoffs to close with a big lead. Gujarat are still trailing by 176 runs with just three wickets in hand. If Mumbai wrap their innings really quick, they may even enforce the follow on and may pick up another surprise win.
