Good Morning, Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live blog session of the first One-Day International (ODI) of the five match series between New Zealand and South Africa at Seddon Park, Hamilton. I am Aditya Sahay, and I will be bringing to you the live updates from this  match. After a disappointing start to the tour, as the hosts lost the only Twenty20 International (T20I) against South Africa by 78 runs, Kiwis will be eager to bounce back. In ODIs, New Zealand are in good form when it comes to playing at home. They have lost only one game at home in their last 11 completed ODIs, though it will not be easy to beat the South Africans who are currently the top-ranked side. Blackcaps will miss the services of their star opener Martin Guptill due to hamstring injury and Dean Brownlie will replace him. On the other hand, South Africa remain unchanged with AB de Villiers back as captain. The Proteas are currently in their best form as they recently whitewashed Australia and Sri Lanka in back-to-back five-match ODI series at home. They would look to continue their form in New Zealand as well.

Since 2015, New Zealand have not lost any bilateral series at home. They have played 8 bilateral series and have won all of them during the period. Interestingly, South Africa were the last team to beat them in a bilateral series in their den back in 2014-15. They beat New Zealand by 2-0 with the final clash being washed out.

So far, both sides have played 65 ODIs against each other. South Africa have the upper hand over New Zealand with 38 wins and 22 defeats, with 5 matches producing no result. But, when it comes to playing in New Zealand, the home side holds edge with 10 victories from 22 games, losing 9 and  3 have ended in no result.

Also, these two teams have played nine bilateral series so far, in which South Africa won seven and New Zealand have only two wins, coming in 2003-04 and 2012-13. Whatever the statistics  may suggest, expect a cracker of the contest in the series opener.
