Good Morning, Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live blog session of New Zealand vs South Africa 2016-17. This is the third One-Day International (ODI) of the ongoing five-match series to be played at the Westpac Stadium, Wellington. The match on Saturday will decide who will take the lead in the series as both teams have so far won one match each. However, South Africa are still ahead in the equation having won the Only Twenty20 International (T20I) of the tour by a massive margin of 72 runs while New Zealand will have the homeside advantage to combat the confident visitors. After losing the first, hosts New Zealand made a strong comeback with the second ODI, winning the match by 6 runs. While Dean Brownlie made a decent contribution of 34 runs as he opened the batting, skipper Kane Williamson added 69 runs. However, it was Ross Taylor’s innings that stole the show. The experienced batsman added 102 off 110, hitting 8 fours in the process. Bowling for South Africa, Dwaine Pretorius was the most successful with a couple of wickets while both Wayne Parnell and Imran Tahir got a wicket each. New Zealand put up 289 for 4 after their 50 overs.

Chasing the target, South Africa lost Hashim Amla early but Quinton de Kock scored a half-century. De Villiers’ 45 was a handy contribution while Pretorius shone with the bat too, scoring 50. But the efforts were not enough to take them to victory as they ended their innings with 283 for 9 on the board. Trent Boult was the pick of the bowlers with a 3-for while Mitchell Santner bagged a couple of wickets.
