Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s coverage of the first day’s action from second Test between West Indies and Pakistan at Bridgetown, Barbados. I am Rohan Sawant and I will be bringing you live updates of the day’s play. Despite rain playing a spoilsport, Pakistan romped home to a 7-wicket win in the first Test at Kingston, Jamaica. Yasir Shah was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan, ending the match with 8 wickets, including 6 for 63 in the second innings, which earned him the Player of the Match award. Pakistan legends Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq achieved a couple of landmarks during the first Test. Younis became the first Paistan batsmen to go past 10,000 runs and Misbah became only the sixth to be stranded on 99. In the process, he also completed 5,000 runs in Tests. The first Test saw three debutants – two from West Indies and one from Pakistan. West Indies roped in Vishaul Singh and Shimron Hetmyer, while an injury to Hasan Ali handed fast bowler Mohammad Abbas his first Test. A win in this match will hand Pakistan the series, but West Indies did play well in patches in the first match and will look to put in an improved performance in this Test. They have the likes of Jermaine Blackwood and Miguel Cummins on the bench to pick from. It will be interesting to see if Pakistan hand a Test debut to leg-spinner Shadab Khan, after the youngster impressed everyone in the limited-overs fixtures. Hasan Ali is now doubtful for the entire Test series and as a result we might see Abbas getting a second game. Abbas bowled very well on his debut, picking up 3 wickets, eventually. Pakistan have named a cover for the fast bowler though. Pakistan’s batting seems to be steady at the moment and it is highly doubtful that they will tinker with that, unless they want to play an extra bowler.
