With an unbeaten half-century from AB de Villiers, home side South Africa will hope to add on more runs in their first innings on Day two of the second Test against Australia at Port Elizabeth on Friday. Play had ended early on the first day due to bad light.
Australia came back well in the last session of the day to pick up two crucial wickets, and peg back the hosts’ progress after the early jolts in the morning session. Proteas vice captain, de Villiers is still batting in the middle, alongside JP Duminy.
South Africa will have their task cut out as they cannot afford to keep losing cheap wickets, and have to reach a strong total. Australia, on the other hand, will be happy with more of the same.
South Africa 214 for 5 (Dean Elgar 83, Faf du Plessis 55, AB de Villiers 51*; Nathan Lyon 2 for 47) vs Australia.
