Sri Lanka will aim to extend their lead against Bangladesh on Day Three, as they resume at 294 for six in the second and final Test match at Colombo on Monday.
Sri Lanka went past Bangladesh‘s first innings total of 240 to take a 54-run lead on Day Two as Kumar Sangakkara slammed his third consecutive Test century with able support from Dinesh Chandimal who also notched up a ton.
Sangakkara and Chandimal put on a partnership of 195 runs for the fifth wicket as the Bangladesh bowler failed to get a breakthrough.
Chandimal was on 102 when Rubel Hossain dislodged his off-stump against the run of play to give the visitors a much-needed wicket.
At the end of the day, Sangakkara was unbeaten on 127 with Nuwan Kulasekara(2) for company as Sri Lanka end the day at 294 for six.
Brief Scores: Bangladesh 240 (Mominul Haque 64, Nasir Hossain 48; Rangana Herath 5 for 68) trail Sri Lanka 294 for 6 (Kumar Sangakkara 127*, Dinesh Chandimal 102; Rubel Hossain 2 for 41, Robiul Islam 2 for 52) by 54 runs.
