Sri Lanka and South Africa are playing the second Test at the Sinhalese Sports Club, Colombo. The tourists won the first Test and are leading the two-match series 1-0. At the end of Day One, Sri Lanka scored 305 for five, with Mahela Jayawardene scoring his 34th Test ton. It was a great day for Jayawardene, but the South African bowlers also did well on a batting surface.

This is Jayawardene’s 11th ton at the SSC and it was an innings he won’t forget. Walking in with Sri Lanka two down very early in the match, he came and played with an attacking instinct, taking the pressure off Sri Lanka. Sri Lankan skipper, Angelo Mathews also scored 63 and Kaushal Silva contributed with a sound innings of 44. For South Africa, Dale Steyn was the pick of the bowlers with two for 55. Now, the stage is set for a riveting Day Two.
