Antigua: Jul 28, 2012

West Indies will aim to maintain pressure on New Zealand on the fourth day of the opening Test at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua, resuming their first innings at 442 for six.

Chris Gayle marked his return to Test cricket by hitting 150 as the West Indies took a crucial 91-run lead against New Zealand on the third day of the first Test.

West Indies were in commanding position with both Gayle and Kieran Powell hitting centuries before Assad Fudadun and Narsingh Deonarine weighed in with half centuries to give the home side a solid edge as the Black Caps struggled even given some swing from the new ball.

Deonarine was still there on 54 with skipper Darren Sammy on eight after Fudadin fell to the bowling of Williamson for 55.

Gayle, who was playing his first Test for more than 18 months due to his stand-off with the West Indies Cricket Board following comments he made about officials in a radio interview, smacked 17 boundaries and four sixes as he made his mark in a 206-ball inning before falling to the bowling of Kane Williamson.

The 32-year-old enabled the hosts to put on 254 for the first wicket alongside Kieran Powell before Brendon McCullum took the catch in the deep.

Brief Scores: New Zealand 351 (Martin Guptill 97, Ross Taylor 45, Daniel Flynn 45; Sunil Narine 5 for 132) trail West Indies 442 for 6 (Chris Gayle 150, Kieran Powell 134; Kane Williamson 2 for 47, Chris Martin 2 for 109) by 91 runs
