Kingston: Aug 2, 2012
West Indies will go into the second Test match against New Zealand at Kingston looking to secure a whitewash.
With the comeback of Chris Gayle into the national side West Indies have looked a much stronger side. Aided by centuries from Gayle and his opening partner Keiron Powell and fine bowling display by Sunil Narine and Kemar Roach, West Indies defeated New Zealand by nine wickets at Antigua.
West Indies will be well aware that the match presents them with a good chance of creating history as they haven’t won a series with a clean sweep since the time they trounced Bangladesh 2-0 ten years back.
However, they will do good to guard against any complacency creeping into their game.
West Indies won the doubleheader T20 series at Florida comprehensively before beating New Zealand in the One-Day Internationals.
New Zealand line-up is further impacted by Daniel Vettori’s absence making it tough for the visitors to improve their chances of level series against the Caribbean team.
