The first T20I at Dharamsala was more about good batting than bowling though there was something for everyone to look forward to. The pace bowlers had carry, bounce and a hint of movement off the pitch, while spinners could also cash in on the turn on offer. Rohit Sharma scored a brilliant hundred in the first innings to propel India to a score of 199, leaving South Africa a challenging 200 to win. AB de Villiers gave South Africa a fabulous start, but South Africa floundered in the middle overs after the dismissals of de Villiers, Hashim Amla and Faf du Plessis in quick succession only for JP Duminy to turn it back in the visitors favour in the 16th over by smashing Akshar Patel for three successive sixes.
