While RPS are in progress to resurrect their campaign in IPL 10, the Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore are languishing at the bottom of the IPL 2017 points table. For RCB, each game here on is a do-or-die contest as they are battling to keep hopes alive to make it to the second round of IPL 2017. However, with six defeats in nine matches with two contests won and a washed out match, RCB have a mere 5 points with the worst Net Run Rate among all competing sides, of -1.401. On the other hand, with four wins and as many defeats in eight matches, RPS have 8 points. Their NRR is in negative, which is of -0.666. Both the teams will be eager to register a big victory on Saturday afternoon.
It has been a campaign to forget for Kohli’s RCB. Without the services of their key players such as KL Rahul and Sarfraz Khan already, RCB played initial games without Kohli and AB de Villiers. The other overseas cricketers in Chris Gayle and Shane Watson could not do much, but the latter did have an impact in one of the two wins.Preview: RPS sniff crucial victory
RCB’s bowling has been misfiring as well. Samuel Badree has claimed a hat-trick this IPL but barring that, RCB bowlers have been tonked for a lot of runs and they have not been able to match the exploits of the others. Yuzvendra Chahal has been their best bowler, but the overall bowling attack lacks the punch that the other IPL teams, such as Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for example, carry.
Rising Pune Supergiant, despite having the world’s best limited-overs bowler in Imran Tahir in their ranks, have been found wanting as well. With Ben Stokes all but ruled out for a few matches or maybe for a longer time, RPS might just have suffered a big blow. In absence of Stokes, RPS have other overseas players in Adam Zampa, Lockie Ferguson and even Faf du Plessis to play with.
