Cuttack: Nov 29, 2011

India restricted West Indies for a lowly score of 211 for nine in their first ODI match in Cuttack on Tuesday.

After made to bat first, none of the West Indies batsman except for Darren Bravo and Danza Hyatt looked to provide resistance against the Indian bowlers.

The visitors got off on a shaky note losing three wickets in the first 10 overs.

Bravo and Hyatt conjured together to put up a 75-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

The duo looked set to propel the visitors to a bigger score, but the momentum shifted towards the host with the unfortunate run-out of Hyatt (31). By then, the Caribbean team had reached 127 for four.

Bravo and Kieron Pollard joined forces and looked to rescue West Indies.

But against the run of flow, Suresh Raina with his guile and variation breached the defence of Bravo (60).

From then on, Indian looked to claw back as the bowlers struck at regular intervals to bag the remaining wickets for 57 runs.

Umesh Jadhav and Varun Aaron shared two wickets apiece, while Vinay Kumar, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Suresh Raina had one wicket each to their name.

Brief Scores: West Indies 211 for 9 in 50 overs (Darren Bravo 60, Danza Hyatt 31; Umesh Yadav 2 for 33, Varun Aaron 2 for 47) vs India
