The 1st Test at Centurion has seen South Africa dominate with the bat so far. South Africa scored 552 for five, built around the the double century of captain, Hashim Amla and the 152 of vice-captain, AB de Villiers, before declaring.
The West Indies bowlers looked threatening in the the first session of Day 1 and even bagged 3 wickets, but lost steam thereafter, allowing Test debutant Stiaan Van Zyl score a century after an edgy start. Unfortunately for West Indies, Kemar Roach, couldn’t bowl after injuring his right ankle in his 16th over on Day 1.
Hashim Amla, quickly declared after Stiaan Van Zyl got his hundred with view to bowl a few overs to the West Indies before close of play. Unfortunately rain came pouring down and day’s play was called of thereafter.
