Sri Lanka will play England at Colombo in the first One-Day International (ODI) on Wednesday. For Sri Lanka this will be the the second series after they lost to India 5-0. Sri Lanka will be happy to get back at home and play under familiar conditions. They will also be happy to have some players back who were missing when the team toured India. This will be also one last opportunity to try all the permutations and combinations before moving to the ICC World Cup 2015.
England are a far from settled ODI unit hence the first match in Colombo is about getting all their permutations and combinations in place. A seven match series offers that luxury. The first step towards that was opening the batting with Moeen Ali in the practice game. He plays an enterprising brand of cricket with the bat, and has begun the tour beautifully with a fifty in the practice game.
