Sri Lanka and South Africa face-off in the first Test of the series at Galle. South Africa is being captained by Hashim Amla. He is taking over from the long-serving South African captain, Graeme Smith. It is going be a major challenge for him, as historically South Africa haven’t performed well in Sri Lanka. The last time they won a Test series in Sri Lanka was back in 1993 when Brett Schultz and Allan Donald ran through Sri Lanka’s batting line-up. Catch live score and ball-by-ball commentary of the 1st Test between Sri Lanka and South Africa

Sri Lanka on the other hand won their first full-fledged series in England recently. As a result of that Test series win, they will be high on confidence. Sri Lanka is led by the astute, Angelo Mathews. They also have fine players like Rangana Herath, Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene and company in their ranks. Catch the live blog here.

South Africa will have to play out of their skins if they have to win in alien conditions. The track at Galle just like most tracks in Sri Lanka should offer some help for the seamers early on, before spinners come into play. Galle is historically known for offering help to spinners as the game progresses. Hopefully, it will turn into an interesting contest between the two sides.
