13.02 hrs: Shivlal Yadav open to become interim president of BCCI, reports NDTV

BCCI Vice-President Shivlal Yadav says he is interested in becoming the interim president. According to BCCI constitution Yadav qualifies for the post since he is the vice-president from the South Zone. If a president from the South Zone fails to complete his tenure, the vice-president stands to takeover as interim president.

BCCI President N Srinivasan agrees to step down from his post. Interim President might take over till elections are held in September this year.


12.43 hrs: Sanjay Jagdale says he might attend BCCI Working Committee meeting, reports Times Now

“Since I have resigned I should not be part of the BCCI. Those who are there are capable. There have been requests for me to be part of the meeting through video conferencing. I probably will be part of it,” Jagdale told Times Now.

He also said that he has no problems with N Srinivasan.

“I don’t have any problems with N Srinivasan. I have not discussed any decision with him. It is his own decision,” he added on whether the BCCI President should or should not resign.

Punjab Cricket Association President IS Bindra has created a fresh controversy by claiming that a BCCI official had arm-twisted the Sri Lankan board to withdraw a report which violated the anti-corruption regulations during India’s tour of Sri Lanka in 2010.

BCCI sources say they still have not come to a decision as to who will replace N Srinivasan if he resigns. Sources also say Shashank Manohar is not willing to become interim president.

19.07 hrs: Kerela Cricket Association wants N Srinivasan to step down till probe is over

KCA said BCCI supremo N Srinivasan should not officiate as President till the spot fixing probe was over.

“He should not officiate as President till the inquiry is over. Only then people will have confidence in the inquiry and this will restore the image of BCCI and IPL and also that of the players,” KCA Secretary T C Mathew told PTI.

BCCI Vice-President Niranjan Shah has said the IPL 2013 spot-fixing controversy has become increasingly “disgraceful” but stopped short of demanding under-fire President N Srinivasan’s resignation.

“It is much regrettable and distressing that the situation is getting aggravated in increasingly disgraceful manner… the matter pertaining resignation of BCCI’s president Mr. Srinivasan should rather be a matter between himself and the rules and regulations of the Board,” Shah said.

15.05 hrs: N Srinivasan sets condition before resigning, reports Times Now.

BCCI President N Srinivasan agrees to step down from his post, but wants to represent India in the ICC.

Sources also say that he wants someone from within the board to take over if he steps down. He also wants to appoint his own treasurer and secretary before resigning.

Reports also say that Srinivasan does not want Sanjay Jagdale and Ajay Shirke to return to the BCCI board again.


14.42 hrs: Dilip Vengsarkar says BCCI’s image has been tarnished, reports Times Now.

The former India captain said that the recent controversies have tarnished the image of the BCCI.

“The recent events have shown the BCCI in a very poor light. It’s not only disheartening but extremely upsetting to see the name of the board being sullied,” he said.

“Those who are responsible must make sure to try and regain some credibility. Greedy officials must be shown the door and people with credibility, integrity, and passion for the game must be inducted,” he added.

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly says MS Dhoni should have clarified his stance on the Indian Premier League 2013 spot-fixing controversy, reports Times Now.

“Dhoni is in the toughest position at the moment. But he should have made a one-line statement. He could have said, ‘Listen, we have got a Champions Trophy to play and we can restore the faith by winning it.’,” Ganguly said.

“I can sympathize with him as everyone wants an explanation from him,” he added.
